Gretel
Gretel is a very sweet, sweet girl with big brown eyes who was
given up because her owner had a baby and could no longer find
time for her. Just look at that face...how could anyone do that
to this dog? Gretel is 6.5 years old and weighs just under 80
pounds. She gets along with everyone, people big and small, cats
and dogs. She is very laid back and relaxed in every setting.
She also know a few tricks! She can shake, give high five and
wave! Gretel walk well on a leash and is very obedient inside and
outside the house. She eagerly and gently accepts treats. Gretel
knows sit, down, and come. She rides well in a car and does not
demand lots of exercise, but could benefit from occasional walks.
She does have one special requirement- she has been diagnosed with
Addison's disease, and she will have a perfectly normal life span.
The only treatment she needs is an injection once a month, which
can be done at the vet's. To help her body manage the stress of
being abandoned and moved around, she is temporarily on some extra
medication that makes her want to drink a lot, so she pees about
every 3 hours (only during the day). So for a short time period
she would need someone to let her out a few times during the day.
Not a big deal, and temporary. She is the perfect addition to a
family who is looking for a loving companion. She softly wags her
tail when she is spoken to, and greets her people with gentle
kisses. Who could ask for anything more? Can you find time for
Gretel and help restore her faith in people again? Please submit
an application today if you think your home could be hers, too.

"A harbor, even if it is a little harbor, is a good thing, since
adventures come into it as well as go out, and the life in it grows
strong, because it takes something from the world and has something
to give in return." -Sarah Orne Jewett, from "River Driftwood"
